Just when I thought I had it all figured out, a sign from the universe changed everything in an instant. My partner and I realized that we were building my new studio in an environment where we would not thrive in the long run. We had to leave the land we loved dearly and begin a new life elsewhere, for the sake of self-preservation and safety.
Starting over is difficult.
But this new chapter is pretty beautiful so far.
UPDATE - November 2015
We are now nestled the woods in the southeast corner of Bloomington. I am pleased that the heat pump, windows, doors, and sky tubes purchased for the first project can all be installed in the new studio. There are foundation issues to be dealt with before we can begin finishing the space, so I have a temporary studio which floats around my home while my larger presses are stored in the garage. I enjoy the mobility of multi-use spaces and it seems to have affected me to want to create small, movable art. I miss working on the presses but good must come out of this transition, this struggle.
In the meantime I will be participating in a few art shows before the holidays so my inventory will be traveling with me.
